Far from home
One of the challenges to living in the forest year round is that we do not get to venture off the mountaintop as much as we’d like to. Usually on Sundays we are cleaning up after retreat guests and preparing for the week to come. One Sunday Erin and I decided to be bold, spend the money on gas, and venture to Living Faith Lutheran Church in Santa Clarita, CA. We felt it appropriate to get to church on Palm Sunday, where we could wave our palms and begin the process of remembering the story of our Savior.
As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by campers and their families, ecstatic to see friendly faces. Sometimes I forget how many people are connected to camp and thus, how many people love me by association. I am a long way from the place I called home for most of my life; thanks to those who love camp and everyone involved, I know that home is wherever you feel loved and accepted most. Thanks Living Faith Lutheran!
When was the last time a new place felt like home for you?
